out of the intersection at 125th/131st st in harlem. you fly around in this space where new columbia buildings are being constructed.
made from feet, meat, tulle, fruit, mice, hands, plastic. i made this in tanglewood in 2017--something i ate in the cafeteria made me feel a little sick (no offense).
made with raquel klein
raquel sent me these super saturated assemblages of painted paper. i layered on top, with images of bees' wings from didi, of caves in phong nha, vietnam, and a solitary bird head that had mysteriously shown up on the porch.
didi's cats, pomelo, the alpaca fur plushies i got in 2008, fish eyes at a fish market near hiroshima, and my hands.
july 17,2020--i was home and bored, scrolling facebook and screenshotting all the posts on my feed. this collage was made out of that day's harvest.
raw sliced beef (for pho), some caribbean sunny water, some pictures of my mouth after my first (and painful!) wisdom teeth removal surgery, and some furry animals.
ice-dissolving salt, soap bubbles, the pavement by my school, peonies, cats, and a wound from didi. i also am pretty sure that i see a vietnamese sandwich in there.
is one of my favorite filmmakers. she makes analog film and then plays with it manually, and the shapes and the colors are so beautiful. she sent me a folder of digitized film photos and i painted this image from really tiny bits of these photos. here's a video of that process
this was the original cat collage. didi's cats (his sister's cats).
in may 2018, evan and i took a trip to japan with his mom and his mom's friend. these are some giant koi fish in kyoto, fish eyes from the fish market, and little caterpillar feet.
adela sent me photos from the giant meat fridge in the restaurant where she worked. on halloween, we found a pile of innards lying in the street in chinatown. also adela and my eyes.
turtles from when we went snorkeling in bonaire, bathtub water, and a painting that i made for my mom, inspired by the water near the house.
fruits and flowers.
more fruits and flowers.
osaka lights, doves, and plastics.
feathers, and meat.

the first collage that was commissioned, by my dear friend sonia mantell. these images come from her trip to iceland.
feathers, many origins.
i reused some of sonia's rock formation photos, and combined them with feathers.
screenshots of a jitter patch
that i made in summer 2019. andrew moses lived with my family for a month, and every day we read max documentation and took samples of audio and video by the stream. i also used some photos of the water in lucerne, which i was similarly obsessed with.
made with photos of the dollhouse
bathroom, and didi's peonies.
sonia sent me a folder of photos from an orchid farm
that she visited with her late father, and i made a series of six collages for her. orchid is also my mom's favorite flower, and the meaning of my vietnamese name. this collage formed the shapes of the rocks in the pregnancy journal
jitter manipulation of orchid 2.
the same patch, with different source material.
i found this folder of closeup photos of my face, from 2016.
when genesis p-orridge woke up from getting matching breast implantation surgery with their partner, they thought, "this is my angelic body."
